Healthy Families, Healthy Tomorrows...
bulletIn Bannock County, more than 1,300 children are abused each year.
bulletPhysical abuse includes shaking, beating, burning and failing to provide adequate food and shelter.
bulletEmotional abuse includes failure to provide attention, supervision and normal living experiences, or being super critical.
bulletVerbal abuse includes yelling, name calling and cruel teasing.
bulletSexual abuse includes touching, fondling, incest, rape and other sexual activities with a minor.

The abused child and family can't always help themselves.  abuse is often a vicious cycle passed from generation to generation.  The majority of these troubled parents can learn how to be good moms and dad with help.

FSA Lifeskills

Lifeskills offers help to families with children who are diagnosed with emotional disturbances.

Licensed Social Workers provide case plans, psychosocial rehabilitative activities, mentoring and life experiences which will allow children to learn social skills, anger management, and delayed gratification.

In addition, children benefit from case planning and review in conjunction with Region VI Health and Welfare case managers and psychologists.

Advocate Program

The FSA Advocates Program was the first domestic violence intervention program in the state.  Established in 1976, the program has offered help and hope for hundreds of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Services Include:
bullet24-hour crisis intervention
bulletShelter
bulletAdvocacy at court, with law enforcement, etc.
bulletSupport groups or individual counseling
bulletReferral to Legal Aid Services, Medical Help, Housing, Public Assistance, Victim's Compensation

Working in conjunction with local law enforcement, the Advocates provide immediate support and information for victims at the scene of domestic violence, and ensure that they have the opportunity to make safe choices.

Support groups offer an opportunity to break out of isolation, talk with others who have been in similar circumstances, and meet women and men who have overcome the violence in their lives.

Kid's Education & Encouragement Project (K.E.E.P.) Center

The FSA Child Care Center provides one of the lowest child-to-staff ratios in the county.  The Center offers part and full time care for children six weeks through 12 years of age.  Our learning curriculum provides projects designed to help children get the best start:
bulletMusic
bulletArt
bulletMovement
bulletStories
bulletScience

Our K.E.E.P. Center provides support groups and activities for children at risk.  Infants through kids twelve years old get personal attention to increase self-esteem and impulse control, learn social skills and non-violent problem solving.

The Aggression Replacement Training project provides after school care five days each week for children who display aggressive behaviors.  Children:
bulletdevelop social skills
bulletidentify and diffuse anger
bulletlearn moral reasoning through experiential role play
bulletThis program offers help and support for families who are concerned about a child's tendency toward aggressive behaviors.

Parent Information Resource Center

Family Service Alliance opened the Parent Information Resource Center in American Falls in October of 2000.  The center, now located at 528 Gifford Avenue, offers services including parenting classes, anger management classes and one-on-one family consultations.  The center is open during Head Start hours so that parents can take advantage of the center while their children attend school.  Parents have opportunity to increase their computer skills, watch informative videos, gather information, receive referrals to other community services, and talk with the staff.  The center serves many visitors that would otherwise not receive this information or access to services provided.

The center is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Financial Support & Volunteer Opportunities

Financial support of the Family Services Alliance ensures friendship, support, social change and encouragement for girls and women.
